The Tribeca Film Festival has inspired plenty of imitators and offshoots, but none quite so charming as this biweekly screening series. Every other Saturday (except for a monthlong hiatus during the festival itself), the program screens two movies—one for kids ages 3 to 6, the other for kids 7 and up—each with accompanying performances, workshops, Q&As, and craft sessions. A screening of Chitty Chitty Bang Bang was preceded by a how-to-harmonize workshop; 1982’s Annie saw a cameo from a cast member of the original Broadway production (she led a rousing group rendition of “Tomorrow”); and an episode of Lamb Chop’s Play-Along wrapped up with a Q&A session moderated by Timmy Young and a couple of hand puppets.
